Lindsey Vonn keeps rolling in Austria, while Ted Ligety races for history

What a weekend for Lindsey Vonn in Austria!

On Saturday she nearly skied into a fence in Zauchensee before pulling it back together and winning the Audi FIS World Cup downhill race (her  fourth this season.) On Sunday she avoided a near disaster again to place second in a Super G. In all, both races helped her gain 90 points on German Maria Riesch, the overall leader.

On the men’s side, Ted Ligety fell just short of World Cup history when he failed in his attempt to win afourth straight giant slalom on Saturday at Adelboden, Switzerland. Ligety, who would have been the first to accomplish the feat in more than 3 decades, was ahead after the first run, but slipped in the second run to finish 28th. Bode Miller was 22nd. Read more.
