Lindsey Vonn’s hard fall forces her out of World Cup slalom with Worlds looming next week

Lindsey Vonn, racing earlier in the season, took a hard fall in training.

Careful, now. American superstar Lindsey Vonn took a hard fall on Wednesday during a training run in Austria. Reports from the Associated Press said that Vonn lay motionless for a time after the fall, then was taken for CT scans that revealed “nothing major wrong.”

The injury forced her to skip a World Cup slalom on Friday and perhaps also a giant slalom on Saturday in Germany. What about her status for the World Championships (Feb. 8-20), where she’s aiming to defend her super-G and downhill titles? (The women’s super-G race is the event’s opening race, scheduled for Tuesday.) Here’s what they’re saying.
