Lindsey Vonn talks about racing a men’s downhill, while Julie Mancuso, men react to quest

UPDATE (Oct. 19): Lindsey Vonn hasn’t heard yet about her bid to race a downhill with the men at Lake Louise, but she’s added another “must have” to her list of men’s events she wants to race: The Hahnenkamm. That’s right, Vonn wants to test the harrowing Streif. See what she says.

While we wait for a ruling from various ruling bodies on whether Lindsey Vonn can race against the men, ESPN writer Jim Caple weighs in with a strong column about why Vonn’s decision has to be “all in” or not at all. See why Caple says Vonn’s decision could hurt women’s skiing.

Lindsey Vonn spoke with The New York Times about her recent request to ski in a men’s World Cup downhill.

The American superstar,  in the interview, said:  “I’d like the chance to compete against them and see where I stand. I’d definitely like to be inside the points, in the top 30.” See what else she said.

The Times also spoke with fellow women’s skier Julia Mancuso and American men’s downhiller Steven Nyman for their reaction to Vonn’s goal of racing with the men at Lake Louise, Alberta, during November. Read their responses.
