Tina Maze ends weekend with second World Cup win, this time in Giant Slalom, while Vonn finishes 27th

UPDATE, Dec. 9: Talented Tina Maze won her fifth race of the season, a giant slalom in St. Moritz, to extend her lead in overall World Cup points. Tessa Worley and Viktoria Rebensburg filled out the podium, while Lindsey Vonn survived a near spill to finish 27th and Julia Mancuso wound up 21st. Read More.

With the win, Maze (677) grew her lead over second-place Maria Hoefl-Riesch (443) and Vonn (414). Here’s where to find all the latest standings in the overall.

Dec. 8: The battle is ON! Lindsey Vonn won the Super G at St. Moritz on Saturday, edging current overall points leader Tina Maze, who finished a strong second. Read more.

DEC. 7: Tina Maze continued her bid to take the overall title in women’s World Cup skiing by winning a Super Combined in St. Moritz on Friday (Dec. 7) .The victory adds to her season total of podiums, which also include  two slalom wins and a Giant slalom podium.

Four of the past five seasons Lindsey Vonn has won the overall title.  On Friday Vonn was fourth after the Super-G but lost control in her slalom run and failed to finish. Read more about the race and find the latest standings in the overall, which also includes past champion Maria Hoefl-Riesch.
