UPDATE: The American ski racer also won Super G and Giant Slalom at the World Championships.

Ted Ligety won the Super Combined on Monday (Feb. 11) to earn his second gold at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in Schladming, Austria.

The Man know as “Mr. GS” may want to change his name to “Mr. Gold” after a sterling run in the downhill portion of the Combined (he finished sixth) and the second best slalom time of the night session helped him outdistance the field.

Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic finished second, with Austrian Romed Baumann rounding out the podium in third.  Speed star Aksel Lund-Svindal (2nd in downhill) straddled a gate in slalom.  Read more.
