Does The Shed in Stowe make the best burger? Nominate your favorite burger!

Who is the King of the Hill when it comes to burgers? The gang at Skiing Magazine says look no farther than The Shed in Stowe, which has been turning out the almighty Shed Burger since 1962. And yeah, as they say, that’s a LOT of burgers. See why they say it’s great.

But is it really the best burger? Know one that’s better at YOUR favorite resort? Tell us by adding your nomination as a comment below. We’ll pull them all together for a list that everyone can use.

The season’s not over yet! Here’s where to go to find that last bit of fun!

Several ski areas already are closed, a number close in Colorado this weekend. But plenty of ski areas are still open, some for as long as sometime in June.

Pond-skimming crashes, splashes at the Canyons

We’re a sucker for funny videos, especially when they involve pond-skimming. This is a GREAT one from the Canyons, shot by Andy Campbell of Park City (@Andy_Campbell on Twitter). Watch and laugh.

Want moe? We’ve got a video taste from snoe.down, a bigger serving coming soon

So? Did you make it to Killington over the weekend for snoe.down? If so, we’re going to guess you’re still recovering from all the fun. We’re feeling a wee bit foggy ourselves. But not too foggy to show you a “sneak preview” of our video about the weekend, from fun on the snow to sponsoring a show by the great jam band, moe. So enjoy this appetizer, we’ll be back with the entree in a little bit.

Meet the hottest women skiers in North America

Julia Niles, from the "Women of Jackson Hole."

Skiing Magazine had a great idea: feature the best women skiers around in a series of slideshows. The result was the popular “Women of …” series. Now that they’ve wrapped up the season, we thought you’d like to see these kick-ass skiers all in one place. So check out the:

Join Swany and Moe at snoe.down this weekend at Killington for great skiing, riding and music

We always work to spread the word about Swany gloves and mitts.  But we’re REALLY excited to spread the word at this weekend’s Snoe.down Winter Music & Sports Festival at Killington Resort in Vermont. Of course the skiing and riding will be great, but we’re stoked that moe, the hugely popular jam band, will play a free show from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday on the Swany Stage (that’s right, the Swany Stage) at the base of Killington’s Bear Mountain.

We’ll be there to report on the show, as well as share video and other news as it happens. For more information on this great event, visit the Snoe.Down web site and check back on the Swany Gloves Outdoor Adventures blog all weekend and next week.

Vonn forced to settle for second in World Cup overall when race canceled, Riesch awarded title

Maria Riesch hoists the winner's trophy after giant slalom cancellation.

Really? This is how World Cup officials wanted the thrilling race for the women’s overall season championships to end? With a cancellation of the giant slalom and the awarding of the prize to Maria Riesch for not racing? Even if there was a day left in the weekend to ski for Lindsey Vonn?

Really. In a stunning move, the three-time defending champion was denied the chance to overtake her friend and rival when the giant slalom was called off because of poor snow conditions in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. “The cancellation of this race doesn’t just hurt me, it hurts the fans and the sport of ski racing as a whole,” Vonn said.

We couldn’t agree more. Read more about the race cancellation and also this column decrying the decision. Here’s where to find previous results from this weekend.

Watch ’em fly on ‘cliff day’ and learn the final results from Red Bull Cold Rush

The results are in from Red Bull Cold Rush at Silverton Mountain, but more importantly, the video is in. Watch and gape in amazement as these guys FLY off cliffs.

EARLIER: All we can say is WOW. The Red Bull Cold Rush has invaded Silverton Mountain for its annual competition, which might as well be subtitled “Steep and Deep and We Can’t Believe You’re Actually Skiing There!” Watch this video and be amazed, and also offer mad props to our man Dave Treadway, the Day One winner with a line that can (in part) be described as “well rocked.” But all the competitors, men and women, deliver some amazing skiing. Watch it! And read more about the competition at Freeskier.com.

Riesch 4th in slalom, edges ahead of Vonn for World Cup title with one race to go

Maria Riesch has a razor-thin lead

It’s come down to this: Maria Riesch leads Lindsey Vonn by the slimmest of margins with one race to go in the World Cup season. The German finished fourth in Friday’s slalom while the American ran 13th, meaning a three-point edge for Riesch going into Saturday’s season-ending race in Switzerland. See what the competitors had to say.

THURSDAY

Storms wiped out Thursday’s Super G in Switzerland, so it’s down to two races to decide the overall World Cup season title between Lindsey Vonn and Maria Riesch. Given Vonn’s strength in Super G, that might give the German a slight advantage in giant slalom and slalom races left. Read more.

WEDNESDAY

Julia Mancuso can’t win for winning. The American won her first World Cup race in four years, a downhill in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, but the big news focused on fourth-place finisher Lindsey Vonn. That’s because the points Vonn earned pushed her past Maria Riesch, who she once trailed by more than 200 points, for the overall World Cup lead. Find out how she did it and learn about the battle in the season’s remaining three races.

Latest video contest winner delivers great freestyle with Bobby Brown and Grant Savidge

Tyler Adams, the latest winner in the Swany Outdoor Adventure Video Contest, delivers plenty of incredible freestyle skiing in his entry and also some major star power: slopestyle superstar Bobby Brown and his good friend and fellow freestyler maniac Grant Savidge. But let Tyler explain.

In his own words: “I’m from Denver, now living in Boulder and going to the University of Colorado. I started skiing at age 6 but switched to snowboarding at 9. Being a weekend warrior growing up, I would get 20 to 30 days in. For my 14th birthday I got a camera and have just been shooting videos of skiing and snowboarding ever since. With some down time at the beginning of the season, my friends Bobby Brown and Grant Savidge asked me to come out and shoot an early season park edit. Breck let us get up early on their jumps and with a sunny day, empty park, and shooting with two of my best friends, it was one of my favorite shoots this season.”

We’d have to agree, it’s an awesome video. If you like to see more of Tyler’s work, visit tylerjosephadams.com.

For his video, Tyler gets a pair of great Swany Gloves. Have a video that you’d like to enter? Just upload it to YouTube, Vimeo and the like, then send us the URL at swanygloves@gmail.com. That’s all there is to it! Complete rules here.
